the fruitful life

Abiding. Pruning. Producing. Christ gives us a beautiful, simple picture of the fruitful life. And a great guarantee. So what is this fruit? When should it come? What if I don't see the fruit in my life? Why should I care and what effect will this have on the world? We explore what the Bible says about living the fruitful life to God's glory in this three-part series.

“Fruit is always the miraculous, the created; it is never the result of willing, but always a growth. The fruit of the Spirit is a gift of God, and only He can produce it. They who bear it know as little about it as the tree knows of its fruit. They know only the power of Him on whom their life depends”

― Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should last

FIT FOR FRUIT
Jesus calls us to produce fruit. But what do I need exactly to make this happen? What are the conditions and foundations for a fruitful life? And how will I know if it is happening in my life?

LIVED OUT FRUIT
While all that we need to be fruitful is connection to Christ, our life is not passive in Jesus but we're called to pursue, put on, and walk in Christ.  Far from boring or stagnant, our transformation blossoms into an active life - abiding, accepting, loving, serving, growing, persevering, and changing the world as God changes us into Christlikeness.
