ASSOCIATE PASTOR

of YOUTH and ENGLISH MINISTRY
 

REQUIREMENTS We’re looking for someone called into ministry who:

Is a born again Christian believer with a solid and vivid relationship and daily walk with Christ, is willing to faithfully pursue the leadership characteristics listed in 1 Timothy 3, and will practice biblical faith and support the beliefs and vision of SVCA. [SVCA's full Faith Statement]. We expect too that you'll have a healthy family with full support from your spouse.

The right candidate will also have a vision and a demonstrated ability to organize and nurture a youth ministry. Five or more years of relevant experience with pastoral recommendation desired. This means too you'll have a great passion and burden for people, especially the youth and the lost, and be able to establish and care for saints in Christ.

As a teacher of God's word you'll able to deliver spiritual and practical sermons, teach biblical truth and real life applications to audiences of different ages and backgrounds.

  • Has a college degree, with a seminary degree or pursuit of one preferred. 

  • Is able to communicate in English (both written and oral) with proficiency. Ability to understand/speak Mandarin is a plus.

  • Feels called to serve Christ in the Silicon Valley/Bay Area culture and either lives in or is willing to relocate to the Santa Clara area

  • Can work legally in the US

RESPONSIBILITIES Please note that position has two distinctive but overlapping areas of responsibility in Youth Ministry and English Ministry. 

 

YOUTH MINISTRY - Middle and High school students and families 

Shepherding - Proactively pastor our youth in line with SVCA's overall direction and under the guidance of the English Pastor and Senior Pastor. We’re looking for a leader to help plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced and healthy family ministry as an integral part of SVCA. This means youth ministry with a view to ministering to the whole family and including the parents in the ministry. This also includes helping protect all youth by ensuring that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all Youth Ministry settings

 

Discipleship - Take the lead in discipleship by developing and implementing a comprehensive, balanced and biblical approach to youth ministry as you involve and equip parents and counselors to disciple 

 

Worship - Oversee the spiritual formation of youth into true worshippers of Jesus Christ. You will oversee all worship service in youth ministry from Friday worship and Bible study to Sunday School, Sunday worship and special events/retreats. 

 

Teaching - You’ll be the primary spiritual voice and example of SVCA to directly teach our youth and train up others to teach God’s word. This includes Sunday School and Small Group curriculum. This can also include   

 

Fellowship - Help our youth grow together as brothers and sisters as you lead, plan and coordinate all activities for the youth, including weekly small group fellowships, outreach, retreats, youth outings, mission trips, etc. 

 

Leadership Development - You’ll have the amazing chance to recruit, train, train and lead youth ministry volunteers including parents and youth. 
 

Oversight - Help drive the vision and future of the Youth Ministry with big picture ideas and administrative oversight of budget, organization, and progress. 

 

ENGLISH ADULT MINISTRY

Community Developer - Be a vital part of our community who can contribute to caring, teaching, counseling, discipleship, and event planning to help us grow together and grow in Christ. 
 

Evangelism  - Have a special heart to help us grow in passion, urgency, and equipping to share the Gospel regularly in culturally significant ways with friends, coworkers, and neighbors. 
 

Ministry Partner - Be a vital support of the English Pastor as you partner to craft the model, growth and vision of the ministry while contributing your gifts - including opportunities to preach sermons, lead in music worship, and create workshops and special events. You can also participate in the wider and dynamic church leadership and life at SVCA.
